Aurora Pinelli
Founder and Co-president
Aurora completed an undergraduate double-degree in European Social and Political Studies at Sciences Po Paris and University College London. Raised in Sicily, she grew up in an environment characterized by a history of domination, peaceful cohabitation, migration, and the fight against Mafia. Her work has been related to population displacement, transitional justice, and post-conflict reconstruction. She interned at the Post-Conflict Research Centre (PCRC) of Sarajevo, with a focus on mass atrocities, genocide prevention, and conflict-based sexual violence. Her philosophy dissertation on "Genocide Denial and Justification of Free Speech Restrictions" arguing against Srebrenica Genocide denialism was awarded and published by the world’s leading academic awards program The Global Undergraduate Awards. She was also part of the Women in War and International Politics (WIWIP) King’s College Association promoting and encouraging the exploration of gender and its implications in war, conflict, foreign policy, and security practices.
Aurora Co-Founded the Next Chapter Project as part of the UN Millennium Fellowship Class 2021, promoting intercultural dialogue and migrants’ inclusion in Palermo and London. She represented Italy as a young female leader in Toronto at the Fora Global Summit promoting gender equality along with delegates from 25 countries. She will be drafting recommendations for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
Currently, Aurora is a law student at Sciences Po Paris. She was recently awarded the Allen & Overy Excellence Scholarship, which is allowing her to found Legal Change, a project fostering diversity and inclusion in decision-making spaces in the legal field.
